Description

Abstract

This chapter explores motivational issues in AI integration, reviewing major motivational theories that are relevant to technological behaviors in the educational context. Key motivational components that may shape learners’ intention to leverage the potential of AI for learning are synthesized across various motivational frameworks. Based on the review, this chapter unravels four motivational mechanisms that are supportive of AI integration. It is suggested that teachers may need to build in mechanisms that support students’ self-efficacy, perceived usefulness of AI, perceived enjoyment, and supportive environment to boost students’ motivation in integrating AI into language learning.
